After a long and sometimes difficult bargaining, the Communications Workers of America’s bargaining team and the University of Akron have reached a tentative agreement on a three year contract. The bargaining team is proud to be able to move our members forward in these difficult economic times and urge ratification of this contract. Contract highlights include;

Wages

1.)  2% lump sum the first year (not added to the base) payable after the ratification of the contract.

2.)  2% the second year added to the base, with a “me too” clause.

3.)  A wage opener in the third year with a “me too” clause.

4.)  Apprenticeship program increase $20,000.00 to 25,000.00.

5.)  Maintain clothing allowance.

Benefits remain the same the first year, second and third year “me too” clause tied to the faculty and non bargain employees.

Maintain non-documented time, and emergency vacations.

Improvement of time limits in the grievance procedure and Article 19 “Corrective Action”.

There will be explanation/ratification vote meetings to be announced
